Corona virus : No tourism visas, arrival of cruise ships and sports activities for 30 days with effect from March 15

Supreme Committee formed by the government of Oman to deal with situation arising due to Corona virus and issues related to tourism has taken the following decisions:
-       Issuing of tourism visa would remain suspended for 30 days with effect from March 15
-       Tourism cruise ships would not be docked at the ports of the Sultanate of Oman for 30 days with effect from March 15
-       All sports activities would also remain suspended for 30 days beginning with March 15

The Supreme Committee formed by the Government of the Sultanate of Oman to deal with the developments taking place due to the Corona virus COVID-19 held its meeting on March 15, 2020 and has taken a number of significant temporary decisions  to get rid of the spread of the virus declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) as pandemic on Wednesday.  This is as part of the efforts being made by all countries of the world to save their citizens, residents and tourists. 

Among the major decisions, taken the Supreme Committee which has to come into effect from March 15 for a period of 30 days, was that the tourism visas for arrival to the Sultanate of Oman from any countries of the world is being stopped, any course ships would be able to enter to the Sultanate and all sorts of sports activities would be stopped. 
Therefore, with effect from March 15, 2020, Sunday, for 30 days, no tourism visas for arrival to the Sultanate of Oman would be issued for entry from any of the land, sea or air corridors. The order is same even for electronically issued visas, visas on arrival. The tourists coming to the Sultanate  after March 15, 2020 and they have valid visa would be able to enter into the country providing they are fit and also they are not from the five countries on which an embargo is declared. 
The decisions mentioned above regarding the non-issuing of visas for those coming to the Sultanate of Oman from any countries of the world is not for those who are coming to country before March 15 and they have tourists visas issued to them earlier and are not tourists from the five countries on which entry is embargoed. The Sultanate has already announced that it was restricting entry of travelers from five countries, China, South Korea, Italy and Egypt. 
The Supreme Committee formed by the government of the Sultanate of Oman to deal with the situation arising due to the spread of Corona virus COVID-19 has also decided to stop entry of the cruise ships to three ports of Oman which are used for tourism ships from 15 March 2020 for a period of 30 days. They are Sultan Qaboos Prot, Salalah Port and Khasab Port. In addition to this, all local, regional and international sports of all types as well as conferences, meetings, seminars and tournaments would remain suspended during this period. 
These decisions and measures were taken as part of international efforts to deal with the situation arising due to the Corona virus and reduce its further outbreak. These decisions would remain effective for 30 days beginning with March 15. The situation would be further evaluated during this period. 
However, the plans of the winter tourism season which is between September and May every year, would not be effected due to these decision. They will only effect just last 30 to 45 days of the season.
